Tenth and final row of tires for this phase.
I am fundamentally lazy. That is not a bad thing. It has made me very creative. Not in the slothful sense but rather in being mechanically inventive and coming up with the most efficient way to accomplish a task. Well, let me share with you what I've learned about pounding tires.
After ten rows of pounding, shoveling, schlepping, sweating followed by more of the same, I have concluded that the best way to pound tires is to schlep, shovel, pound and sweat. I wish I had better news......I don't.
Glenna, pounding the final row into submission.
Ten rows up and still wondering whether or not I have completely lost my mind. I don't know if I want to thank Michael Reynolds (creator of the earthshp) or track him down and give him a wedgie.
It's a dirty job
The backfill is an ongoing process. Every three or four rows we backfill to add support as well as have a place to stand.

Can you see where concrete "L" blocks have been poured to tie the walls together?
Glenna is starting to test floor materials.
This is local flagstone, from our property, set in a morter mixture. We would need to spend money on cement and lime.
This one would be almost free.
This is a mixture of straw, sand and clay, mixed with water. The mixture is left to dry and then coated with several coats of linseed oil.
