Laughing Goddess Studio
What we are about
What we are about
We are four friends, two couples that share a common interest in a sustainable and affordable way of life. Not just for ourselves but sharing our experience with those who are interested.
The gentleman that we bought the land from is telling everyone that "a bunch of Hippies" are moving in up there." We hope that is not the general idea. Scott owns a local health food store, Great Grains Health Foods and has long been interested in building an "Earth Ship". His partner, Karla is a registered nurse and had trouble with the concept of living in a hole in the ground, surrounded by tires. Tucker and Glenna are artists and co-owners of jabberwocky studio and have become interested through their friendship with Scott and Karla. jabberwocky studio is the birthplace of the name Laughing Goddess. The name comes from garden sculptures Tucker creates of frolicing women in the act of enjoying life. In May of 2007 we all loaded up in Karla's Chevy and left Miles City, Montana to spend a couple of days in an Earth Ship community, North of Taos, New Mexico. That was a wonderful experience for all and I will share more of that with you with this site.
On our way home we began discussing "Straw Bale" building as Scott had some experience in that area. We decided that another journey was in our future and signed up for a one day workshop. Pipestone Pass between Whitehall and Butte, Montana was only a few hours away and we had friends to stay with for the night so off we went to Sage Mountain for what turned out to be a day well spent.
What we have learned from the knowledgable people that have shared their experience, wisdom and hard work with us, is what we hope we can impart to you so that we may reduce our footprint on this wonderful planet that we call home and share with one another.
